Getting to Rustlewood

Three Lakes sits in the heart of the Wisconsin northwoods. Most guests come up from Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison, or the Twin Cities. Below are the routes we recommend.

From Chicago

  1. Take your best route to I-90 westbound toward Rockford.
  2. Follow I-39 north toward Madison.
  3. Continue onto I-39 / US-51 North at Exit 108A-B.
  4. Stay on US-51 North through Wausau.
  5. Take US-8 East to Rhinelander.
  6. Follow US-17 North from Rhinelander to County Road A at Sugar Camp.
  7. Take County Road A to Three Lakes.
  8. Follow US-45 East through Three Lakes to WI-32.
  9. Turn left at WI-32. At the next intersection, turn left onto County X.
  10. Follow County X about a mile. After a sharp curve, turn left onto Russell Road.
  11. Follow Russell Road to the dead end. You're here.

From Milwaukee

  1. Follow I-43 North to Green Bay.
  2. Turn north on I-41 to US-29 / WI-32 West.
  3. Follow US-29 / WI-32 West to US-45 North at Antigo.
  4. Take US-45 North to WI-32.
  5. Turn right onto WI-32. At the next intersection, turn left onto HWY X.
  6. Follow HWY X about a mile. After a sharp curve, turn left onto Russell Road.
  7. Follow Russell Road to the dead end.

From Madison

  1. Follow I-90 / I-94 / I-39 West to I-39 / US-51 North at Exit 108A-B.
  2. Stay on US-51 North through Wausau.
  3. Take US-8 East to Rhinelander.
  4. Follow US-17 North from Rhinelander to County Road A at Sugar Camp.
  5. Take County Road A to Three Lakes.
  6. Follow US-45 East through Three Lakes to WI-32.
  7. Turn left at WI-32. At the next intersection, turn left onto HWY X.
  8. Follow HWY X about a mile. After a sharp curve, turn left onto Russell Road.

From Minneapolis

  1. Follow I-94 East to US-29 East at Eau Claire.
  2. Take US-29 East to US-51 North at Wausau.
  3. Continue on US-8 East to Rhinelander.
  4. Follow US-17 North from Rhinelander to County Road A at Sugar Camp.
  5. Take County Road A to Three Lakes.
  6. Follow US-45 East through Three Lakes to WI-32.
  7. Turn left at WI-32. At the next intersection, turn left onto HWY X.
  8. Follow HWY X about a mile. After a sharp curve, turn left onto Russell Road.
  9. Follow Russell Road to the dead end.
A Few Tips

Before You Set Out

Cell service can be spotty as you get closer to the resort, especially in the last 20 miles. Download offline maps for Three Lakes, WI before you leave home — or print out the directions above. The final stretch involves a sharp curve right before Russell Road, so don't blow past it. If you do, just turn around and try again; everyone does it the first time.
